There is nothing better than walking into your bedroom after a long day to a beautiful cozy bed. I am certainly not a professional, but I am going to show you how to create a bed that looks like it could be in a magazine.
First. Layers, layers, and more layers.
Yes, I know that adding all of those layers can get expensive, but something I have learned is you can piece your bedding together. Please think outside the box on this. You DO NOT have to buy a big comforter set. I just piece together things that I love. Start out by deciding what look and feel you are going for. For my master I wanted a lot of soft creamy neutrals.
The second step to your beautiful bed is TEXTURE. You don't want to go too over the top, but if you look at this photo the colors aren't bold, but you can see lot's of patterns and different textures. The texture is going to give a feeling of depth and is really pretty to look at. :)
The last tip I have is about those big oversized decorative pillow shams. Have you noticed you put a pillow in there and they just still look like a limp noodle !? That look is not going to land in a magazine! LOL Not that that is our goal here, but we work hard and we want a pretty bed to come home to at night soooo This is what I do.... I buy TWO super cheap bed pillows and cram both of those suckers in there! There you have it! A big oversized full pillow sham that doesn't look like a limp noodle.
You can use this super professional 😉😉 technique anywhere you need a fuller look. For example when I put my folded duvet across the foot of the bed it just looked so thin and not very cozy so I actually put two down alt. comforters inside my duvet cover. It looks so much more comfy and its super warm and cozy for winter.
On my bed I started with three oversized pillows in the back. In front of the oversized pillows are the pillows we actually sleep on. You can't see them here, but they do have pretty floral pillow cases! :0 ) They also help add another layer and prop up the taupe pillows in front of them.
Once you have a color scheme in mind, find pretty pillows that you like and start from the back and build your way forward to the smaller pillows. If you buy a quilt set it will come with the large decorative shams. The other decorative pillows I used are just home decor pillows. I purchased the rectangle lumbar pillow at Home Goods and could not find a link to that but I will share something similar.
If I could only give you one tip to get a beautiful cozy bed it would be LAYERS!
If you need some more inspiration or just want to find my bedding, I am sharing all of the links below!
